Planning Eid Al Fitr 2025 in Sharjah and Ajman? Here’s where parking is free
Inspection teams will monitor parking misuse in the emirates

Sharjah residents and visitors can enjoy free parking across the city during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, the Municipality has announced.
The exemption applies from Shawwal 1 to 3, covering the first three days of Eid.
However, the waiver does not extend to certain zones that require seven-day paid parking, identified by blue information signs.
Free parking in Sharjah
The initiative aims to facilitate smoother traffic movement during the festive period. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, confirmed that parking inspectors will remain active to ensure compliance and prevent misuse of public parking spaces. The municipality urged motorists to use designated areas properly to avoid inconvenience to others.
While parking is free across most areas, residents must remain cautious of the zones still subject to charges. The blue-signed areas will continue to operate under standard regulations, ensuring a steady turnover of available spaces in high-demand locations.
Free parking in Dubai
In addition to the free parking announcement, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revised public transport schedules to accommodate the Eid rush. Public parking in Dubai will be free from Shawwal 1 to 3, except in multi-level parking terminals. Regular fees will resume from Shawwal 4.
Dubai Metro’s extended operating hours will further enhance mobility across the emirate. From Saturday, March 29, trains on both the Red and Green Lines will run from 5am to 1am the next day. On Sunday, March 30, metro services will start at 8am and continue until 1am, while from March 31 to April 2, the timings will revert to 5am to 1am.
Free parking in Ajman
Ajman Municipality has followed suit, confirming that paid parking will be free during the same Eid period, Shawwal 1 to 3. This move aligns with the broader UAE-wide efforts to ease holiday travel and ensure residents and visitors can enjoy the celebrations without additional parking costs.
Authorities have also set up dedicated teams to address public inquiries and complaints throughout the Eid period. While the free parking initiative brings relief, officials emphasised the importance of following all regulations to maintain smooth traffic flow and prevent violations.
